JMV reinforce GreenBuilding for the construction industry with Kerakoll

Technical Seminar

On Wednesday, 17th May 2017, Malta, we were proud to welcome Dr Paolo Casadei, Product Manager at Kerakoll Group, Luca Salvo, Sales Representative at Kerakoll Group and Salvatore Balli, Area Manager at Kerakoll Group. Dr Casadei was the keynote speaker at a Kerakoll Technical Seminar hosted in collaboration with JM Vassallo Vibro Steel (JMV) at the Corinthia Marina Hotel in St. Julian’s

The turnout was great, with over 100 attendees, from the construction industry, with professionals including contractors, engineers and architects, all of whom expressed noteworthy interest in the innovative solutions offered by Kerakoll.

Kerakoll is a trailblazer in the sector, being the first company in the world which offers a comprehensive package of GreenBuilding materials and services. These products are utilised to build great buildings with solid foundations, whilst allowing inhabitants to live in healthy homes which won’t harm the environment.

GreenBuilding is the building style that concentrates on the environment, whilst focusing on the improvement of both health and quality of life. To do this, it uses environmentally friendly, naturally breathable, and highly energy-efficient building materials. Kerakoll and JMV started discussing business cooperation only two years ago with an initial special emphasis on innovative and green products. In the coming months, JMV will be promoting the Kerakoll range of products from a specifically dedicated centre for Kerakoll and green products, with technical staff available to give advice and training on the application of these products.

JMV's company mission is one that is shared with Kerakoll: to embrace and promote GreenBuilding. Such buildings with their new low environmental impact approach, promote higher quality homes in Malta. This is thanks to the use of eco-friendly building materials and innovative solutions that put the environment at the forefront.

Dr Casadei’s research has been concentrated on the area of retrofitting using state-of-the-art materials such as fibre composite materials or FRP, and assessment of reinforced concrete, for buildings, bridges as well as masonry structures, through pioneering field-testing techniques. Through his academic and professional activities, he has obtained laboratory, field and design experience in strengthening structures using advanced materials, monitoring and field assessment through in-site load testing of buildings and bridges. Dr Cassadei serves as a reviewer for several refereed journals such as: Journal of Composites for Construction (ASCE), Journal of Bridge Engineering (ASCE) and Structural Journal (ACI).

Kerakoll exports almost 40% of its products to more than 100 different countries. Moreover, it supplies 20,000 builders and merchants, and 5,000 wood flooring centres internationally. It also serves 2,000,000 building professionals who choose Kerakoll products every year.

From the outset, the pillar of the Kerakoll vision has always been to make the difference through sustainable modernisation. This belief led first to the launch of Biocalce and Kerakoll Design, the new up-to-date resin surfaces that are a particular favourite with architects, design engineers and interior designers.

Over the years, Kerakoll has built up a unique legacy of technical know-how and skills that have allowed the company to carve out a leading place in the worldwide market for GreenBuilding construction materials. Such success has allowed Kerakoll to become the partner of leading design engineers, specialist distributors and corporate clients such as McDonald’s, Armani, BMW, Ferrari, Zara, Diesel, Ikea, Mercedes, Dolce & Gabbana, Swatch and Coca Cola.

During the JMV Kerakoll Technical Seminar Dr. Paolo Casadei explained to all delegates the engineering and architectural benefits available across the Kerakoll platform, including a new calculation tool called Kerakoll GeoForce One. This software provides advanced and comprehensive tools to design whilst analysing reinforced concrete and masonry structural members. Needless to say, this state-of-the-art product drew an enthusiastic response from local professionals. Additionally, each delegate also received a detailed conference pack which included Kerakoll guidelines for architects and engineers, digital materials, JMV's GreenBuilding Materials Information pamphlet and some useful giveaways.

It’s noteworthy to mention that Kerakoll was the Technical Supplier for key building projects such as the 2008 Olympic Stadium, Valencia’s City of Arts and Science, the London and Tokyo underground systems, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the World Trade Center in Bahrain, amongst others.

Kerakoll was also selected for the restoration of pieces of world heritage such as St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice , the Verona Arena,  the Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo Vecchio and Corridoio Vasariano in Florence and even the Reggia di Venaria Reale – which is the largest restoration project in Europe.

Products, services and specialised expertise formed the basis of Kerakoll’s growth to become the only GreenBuilding company to provide a global GreenBuilding solution which aims at designing, building and living in harmony with the environment as well as healthy spaces.

JMV is committed to further strengthening its collaboration with Kerakoll in order to continue to promote innovative products offering new and better solutions to the construction industry and which have the least possible impact on our environment.
