A Brief History
The origins of the company J.M. Vassallo Vibro Blocks Ltd. go back to the year 1969 when it opened its doors as a supplier of material for the construction and metalwork industries.
The two decades that followed saw a consistent expansion of the business. In 1990 the company expanded its business scope by setting up an electro-welded steel wire mesh factory. Consequently the fabrication of steel mesh became the company’s main line of business, however, the company retained its role as a leading stockholder.
In more recent years the company upgraded its activity in the cutting, bending and assembly of reinforcing steel bars. A fully automated rebar processing unit was introduced in 2001 and in 2003 equipment for the production of circular reinforcement was installed.
In order to keep itself in the forefront as a leading supplier of steel to the local construction industry, the company invested heavily during year 2005. A new Cold Drawing line was installed and the Mesh Welding Machine was upgraded introducing new features in mesh production.
The construction of a new 2600 sq.m storage area started in May 2005. This project will be ready by June 2006 and will enable us have all material stored inside. The new storage building will be equipped with overhead cranes and a lot of time will be saved during loading of material to clients and unloading of raw material when this arrives from quay. The total covered area will now become 9200 sq.m. which is 50% of the factory complex in Zebbug.
Year 2005 saw also the birth of J M Vassallo Vibro Steel Limited which is fully owned by J M Vassallo Vibro Blocks Limited. The directors felt that it was fundamental for the company to continue increase its products so it was decided that J M Vassallo Vibro Blocks Limited would concentrate on its manufacturing role while J M Vassallo Vibro Steel Limited would operate as the trading company. These new developments will enhance our flexibility and efficiency towards our clients. We are looking forward to launch new products in the near future.
The company operates a quality management system and offers a quality assured product. High standards are a priority on the agenda of the company. A material testing unit was installed in 2003 to monitor the level of quality of the materials processed and handled by the company.
